Cheeky mistakes

The 6 common mistakes when applying blusher
  • Blusher that is too shimmery can leave you looking ashen and grey.
  • Using shades that are too bright, dark or pale: blusher should never be noticeable.
  • Not blending enough can result-in a horizontal stripe across cheeks.
  • Muddy or grey tones can leave skin looking dirty.
  • Blue and purple tones can make skin look bruised.
  • Too much color on the face: tap off excess before application or sweep translucent powder over the cheeks.

The Big No No on lips

Don't...

Lick your lips. Trying to replace your lips moisture with saliva by licking your lips is one of the most common mistakes we make. Whether it's an unconscious habit or a deliberate way to combat dryness, lip-licking can have big consequences. Saliva is not moisturing, and as saliva evaporates, it causes lips to dry out even more. Thus it becomes a vicious cycle because you'll keep licking your dry lips in a bid to moisture them but they'll continue to dry out even more from the evaporation. Stop the cycle by coating lips with a healing balm instead.

Bite your lips.
Although it immediately gives your lips a healthy hue, biting them is another one of those unconscious habits that can lead to your lips drying out in no time, and even cracking and peeling as the problem worsens. Biting scrapes the delicate skin of the lips, and can expose tender flesh that takes an even longer time to heal.

Peel your lips.
If you have "itchy fingers" that can't resist a scab or peel, STOP! Peeling the dry flakes off your lips and causing them to bleed will only exacerbate the problem of dry, cracked lips. Seek medical help if you have severe lip condition that doesn't seem to heal even after re-applications of healing balm.
